A&G coming in July to: Temple, Austin, LaGrange and Dallas

Albert and Gage e-newsletter July  2007

Albert & Gage:  We stay in Texas this month and roll up our sleeves on the new MoonHouse Studio location (read our notes below).  Every Saturday we play a cool show - check out The Bugle Boy in La Grange, if you haven't been there yet.  It's an excellent listening venue.  Our First Wednesday at Donn's is moved to the second Wednesday (11th), so mark your calendar.

MoonHouse Studio:  MoonHouse Studio will be moving to a new south Austin location at the end of the summer!  We will continue working here while remodeling the new space, so "Paris, Texafrance" and Abi Tapia music will ring from the walls, whenever we can tear ourselves away from creating our new world.

MoonHouse Records:  The DVD "Red Willow Band Reunion & Retrospective" is available now through MoonHouse Records.  It's a 3 DVD set with 'then and now' performances by Chris's still beloved band from the 70's - Red Willow Band -  plus interviews and special bonus material.   The companion CD, Red Willow Band "Reunion!", is also available.   The CD and DVD feature highlights of the band's reunion concert in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in September 2006.

Red Willow Band's Weekend Barn Dance - September 7 and 8, 2007

...a note from Christine...

Our June "quote of the month" was "Change is the constant, the signal for rebirth, the egg of the phoenix." (Christina Baldwin).  Chris and I had opened a conversation and our minds to the possibility of change and a significant restructuring of our life, unsure of how that might manifest.  Being the magnets that we are, by the end of the month the shift had occurred.  We now find ourselves with a new location for our studio (less than a mile from our home), new partners in that endeavor (Lisa Rolke and Mark Turner) and remodeling underway to create an expanded space for our recording projects.  We have been running the record company, studio and our own management under one crowded roof.  This change will not only give us more definition in our work and personal life, but room for a grand piano!  Anybody know of a great deal on one? (email Chris).
It's a big commitment and in some ways a frightening expansion, but the quote for this month sums it all up.  The ease with which this fell together was truly remarkable and gives us faith that it is right.  We found it on the full moon in May and closed on the full moon in June.  An auspicious beginning for the bigger and better MoonHouse Studio.  (Oh, it used to be the "Texas Foreign Language Studio" - how perfect is that?)
     Back to the hammer....
     Christine
PS   You MUST see "La Vie En Rose" - the new movie about Edith Piaf!  I've read everything there is on Edith, seen all the documentaries, visited the street corner where she was born...this movie has as much depth and passion as she did.  Really incredible...

Quote of the Month
"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."
Anais Nin

...and a note from Chris...

I've made a lot of recordings in my different homes over the years, starting on a couple of cassette decks that my folks gave me for Christmas in South Dakota, moving up to a 4 track Teac reel to reel recorder in a hippie farm house in Beaver Creek, Minnesota, then on to Tulsa, Oklahoma where I made a bunch of records for the members of Roy Clark's band while I was his piano player, calling the place Gee Whiz Recording.
My move to Austin happened in 1991, where Gee Whiz settled in my garage on Clarno Drive, my clients being the best of the young performers I was working with at Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, (they were all going to be country stars and needed demo tapes...a couple of them are country stars...) which then led to a wonderful collaboration with the inimitable Jimmie Dale Gilmore doing pre-production for his CD that became "Braver Newer World".
One of the last projects to come out of the Gee Whiz garage was "Christmas With Christine", recorded just a couple of weeks after my future partner and I had first met. The CD is not available commercially, but we've got homemade copies to offer if you're interested.  It's very simple, Christine sings and I play.
Time led us to create the MoonHouse Studio in our new home and now on to  MoonHouse Jr.  I have no doubt the new and improved MoonHouse will be a creative and soulful haven for ourselves and others for years to come.  Hey, we're building an empire, one song at a time.
See you at the gig....or studio session!
