Albert and Gage e-newsletter November 2007

Albert and Gage:  We have a lighter travel and gig month, so we can really dig in to getting that new studio up and running.  Our shows are all in Texas, although Christine will make a trip to LA for her first Board of Governors meeting in her new role as Trustee from Texas for The Recording Academy.  We will also fly to South Dakota to play a private event, so we get to connect with friends and experience bone chilling cold to get ourselves in the Christmas spirit.

MoonHouse Studio:  Soldering, wiring, painting, setting up the gear - we're past the major construction and are in the home stretch.  Hitting the "record" button is finally within reach.  Special thanks to Baird Banner, Tommy Byrd and Jeff Tveraas for their invaluable contributions to the patchbay project.

MoonHouse Records:  Find all of our music at www.moonhouserecords.comCheck out the new complete listening system - you can hear a sample of every song from every CD.  It's very user friendly.  And remember, much of our catalog is available at iTunes as well.

...a note from Christine...

Thanksgiving...giving thanks... ...gratitude...hmmmm...I am grateful for the walk I took this morning; my cat Pinto who found us on the very day we lost our long time companion Angel; the incredible four mothers I have - one birth, three "in-law"; the leaves in New England last month; the people in New England last month; the sound of the wind in the trees in the Acadia National Park (our back yard for four days); Uncle Calvin's Coffeehouse (celebrating 25 years this month) and all the other concert series that give us such an ideal place to play our music; Chris Gage and our very alive and loving connection; the Alberts; the Gages; The Gammages;  Artz Rib House and Donn's Depot and the colorful cast of characters that are my friends; time to hang out with friends (which I'm sure I'll have as soon as the Moonplex remodel is done); the new studio and the opportunity to create a cool space for music to be born in south Austin; Lisa Rolke and Mark Turner for their support and their beef; my son Troupe for all he has taught me about love; my step kids Sam and Casey for the same thing; books (especially Willa Cather's); my Martin guitar and all the songs I wrote on that thing; my garden and its stamina this summer while I ignored it; Texas; my New Mexico friends and the light there; my breath...
     and all of you...
     Christine

...and a note from Chris...

I'm thankful to be back in Austin after a season of tours that kept our bags packed from late August till now!
We've eaten some amazing food....red and green chile in New Mexico, lobsters in Maine, Frank and Polly's corned beef and tres leches cake (oddly enough) in Cape Cod (Suzan's a Texan), clam chowdah in Fall River, and all the bites in between.
Our friends and concert promoters Lee and Dee (and Norman) in Bar Harbor let us live alone in their cool house in the forest for four days a couple weeks ago (see this month's pic of the month). The house is very solar, has gas lanterns for lights, wood stoves for heat and a huge prolific garden.  The trees were at their peak autumn colors and the air was so fresh.  Anyway...we all wanted to get together for a dinner (not just a gig) so I came up with this strange idea to invite them to a dinner party...in their own home!   I cooked up some Oscar pasta (intrigued?  more later) and warmed some bread while Christine searched their shelves for the place settings she thought they might not have used in a while.  We had a wonderful time, and they got to leave without having to clean up.
Enjoy the upcoming holidays...break some bread, eat some turkey, and say Thanks, thanks a lot.  (Ernest Tubb)
     See you at the gig...
