A&G coming in September to South Dakota!

Albert and Gage e-newsletter September 2007

Albert & Gage:  We're off to South Dakota this month.  Chris plays with his old bandmates from Red Willow Band, and Albert and Gage play some theatres with Red Willow fiddler Kenny Putnam.  Christine plans to take our tiny guitar in the truck to write songs and work on French music for the new CD - which we get to work on soon in the new studio with the new 110 year old Bechstein piano!

MoonHouse Studio:  Chris just put the finishing mix touches on the debut CD by local heartthrobs Zak and Paul from "Austin Homegrown".  Lissa Hattersley is recording some wonderful songs and Abi Tapia will be off the road soon to finish her CD at the new and improved MoonHouse Studio.  In the queue...Craig Calvert and Christine's "Paris, Texafrance".

MoonHouse Records:  You can find all of our music at www.moonhouserecords.comCheck out the new complete listening system - you can hear a sample of every song from every CD.  It's very user friendly.  And remember, much of our catalog is available at iTunes as well.

...a note from Christine...

Labor Day.  Everyday is Labor Day around here, but laboring at what you love is a gift, I know.  Still I could use a day at the beach, if I loved beaches.  Really, I like rivers and lakes, so we are taking two days in the middle of our South Dakota tour to celebrate my birthday at Sylvan Lake in the Black Hills of South Dakota.  Whenever we drive by, it calls my name and says "Christine, sit here by my shore and watch the reflection in my still water for awhile.  You'll sleep better if you do, I promise!"  So, we will answer its call and do just that.  Sorry, cell phone calls might not get through September 11 and 12th.
New Mexico and Colorado were lovely, as always.  Lots of green and red chile meals and old friends...good for my Santa Fe soul.
The Austin American-Statesman will publish an essay I wrote in their Sunday edition on September 9.  It is part of their "Tales of the City" series - personal stories from Austinites.  I'm honored to have my piece selected.  Check out the link that day - perhaps you can access it.
Thanks to our partner, Lisa Rolke, for the quote this month.  She sent it during an exceptionally stressful week of the studio remodel.  I was wishing for a mental epidural right about then!
May all your birthings be easy.
     Christine

Quote of the Month

"Every new idea has something of the pain and peril of childbirth about it."
Samuel Butler (1835-1902)

...and a note from Chris...

It's amazing what you can learn.  I've ended up doing quite a bit of the electrical finish work myself over at the new and improved MoonHouse Studio.  I went online and before I knew it I was watching all sorts of "Do It Yourself" videos created by various master electricians
So far so good, except a couple outlets don't work yet, my phone doesn't have a dial tone, there's no lights in the kitchen, I don't know which wire is which in the triple switch boxes, I didn't get the track lights up, and I spent an hour trying to get a #8 screw into a #6 hole.  So far so good... (okay let's get a real electrician in there to finish up.)
Like Conan O'Brien says...when he's in the middle of a DIY project and his wife says "Honey, we can hire an electrician, you know", what he hears is "You idiot, let's get a real man to do that job!"
Hey, there's power to my equipment closet, and that's all that really matters.  (The track lights over the piano will be nice, though).  I haven't even begun to tackle the hundreds of little solder connections I'll have to make in order to get the sound from each new room back to the control room.  Hey, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it.  Wish me luck.
     See you at the gig.
