| A note
from Christine:
Yes, Dakota Lullaby is finally in our hands. Now begins
the long process of getting it to radio, press, setting up digital
distribution, etc. So, it won't really be out in the whole
wide world for
awhile yet, but you can find it at our shows starting in April, and
at our website. I am very happy with this one - it is so cool
to get to be the interpreter of such great songs - Tom gave us a
gift with his music and hopefully we have given him one back with
this recording.
In addition to South Dakota, Louisiana, and all around
Texas, I am going to make a trip out to LA for a meeting this month.
It will be a busy few weeks, but we're playing some of my favorite
places, so bring it on! David Carroll will join us on upright
bass in Crockett, Louisiana, Houston and Arlington.
David also joined us again for the European jaunt last
month. I had to laugh - when we got back to Austin he switched
his GPS to German. We all got very used to the soothing
guidance of "Ursula" who led us flawlessly through the winding roads
and villages of Germany and Switzerland. It's a great
listening comprehension tool because there are a few key phrases
that you hear over and over and over! I like knowing that
Ursula will be getting David from Austin to Crockett.
Speaking of which, the sunrise Easter service in
Franklin is worth the effort. If you're in that area, get your
buns out of bed and come join us. The Rolke family will
welcome you with open arms and hot
coffee and I guarantee your
spirit will thank you.

And
a blurb from Chris:
It's great to have the CD out. Tom Peterson is an old pal who
always had a great new song in his pocket in the old days.
This record came out better than I could have hoped thanks to
musicians like Kenny Putnam, Lloyd Maines, Mike Stevens, John Mills,
Michael Austin and our rock steady rhythm guys Paul Pearcy, David
Carroll and Glenn Fukunaga. The music really runs the gamut of
our personal tastes, there's some bluegrass, some New Orleans stomp,
some R & B, along with several beautiful ballads that are sure to
tug at your heartstrings. Check it out.
I mentioned the WMF kitchen tools I've been collecting
last month. I managed to pick up several cool new tools,
including a hand-held peeler that creates the little julienne strips
that are so common in a European mixed salad, the ones with little
piles of salad in 4 corners of the plate.
The new
photo tour is quite nice, check it out if you
have time. The city of Bern, Switzerland is like no other, and
I think you'll agree when you take the tour. Another
picturesque spot (Jimmie Dale Gilmore likes to pronounce it
picture-skew) was Laufen, Switzerland where our promoter buddy
Martin took us for a stroll and a coffee.
We're allowing some transformation of our own this
year, we're getting the kitchen painted while we're in SoDak, and
I'm going to be playing some shows on lead guitar starting this
summer with Texas legend Jerry Jeff Walker. It'll all work
out...
Ciao, see you at the gig.
