Happy New Year to all our friends,
fans, family, colleagues and neighbors! Chris is
back from Belize, having snorkeled with sharks and rays
and barracudas, Christine is back from Florida having
organized a garage sale with Mom and Susan, Chippy the
kitty is happy to have us home, and it's colder than a
frozen margarita here in Austin, Texas. Chris
dives into the studio while Christine takes her rock
star son Troupe on a weekend date to the Grammys in Los
Angeles. That's our life in a nutshell.....

We have a new track featured on a
Swedish compilation - Hemifran's "More Music
from Home".
Christine wrote the song "Calling Me Home" and we recorded it in
2010 at MoonHouse Studio. Click the CD cover for more info

We've also licensed several of
Christine's French recordings to a label in Taiwan,

Chris is diving into a fun
project this month with his pal Chan Chandler who
records songs from the Paramount Films catalog with
Austin musicians. This latest batch includes a
little Elvis and a little Little Richard.

The TCA provides grants to arts presenters, schools,
libraries, theaters and other non-profits throughout
Texas to help with the cost of bringing in artists from
the roster. |
A reminder that
Christine Albert's French Show has been approved
for inclusion on the new
Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) Texas Touring Roster
for the Sept 2010 - August 2012 season. So, if you know of a
school, non-profit arts organization (grants are not
available for fundraising events), etc that would like to host Ms.
Albert's French Show, please keep this in mind.
The next deadline for Arts Respond Performance Support Grants
is May 1, 2011 for performances June 15 - August 31,
2011. (Insider tip - you can also apply
for funding for an A&G show through Christine's account,
since Christine is the Albert in Albert and Gage!)
Christine and Professor Jacki Thomas of Texas A&M -
Kingsville are developing listening comprehension
exercises as a companion to the Texafrance music -
perfect for the classroom or for individuals learning
French on their own. More soon about "Texafrance -
Ecoutez!"

A note
from Christine:
Austin feels like a frozen tundra this morning.
I wanted to stay in bed reading, but after a week in Florida
visiting my family and trying to keep up with business from afar,
the to-do list is long and the day is short. So I've got my
tea and the computer will be my home base today.
I have been a Trustee on the national Board of Trustees
of The Recoding Academy for several years now, but I am terming out
in May. This will be my last opportunity to attend
The Grammys in
the style to which I have become accustomed (great seats, invitation
to wonderful pre-Grammy events - thanks Academy) so this year I am
taking my son Troupe Gammage with me as my date. He is in the
band
SPEAK, and they are on the brink of their first national release
with Atlantic Records. Lots of folks have asked me about their
music.
Here's a link to a cool video of one of their songs.
Troupe is the singer - you might recognize his mama's blue eyes.
Who knows, maybe in a few years I can be his guest at The Grammys
and he'll be a nominee.

That's right, I snorkeled for the first
time. I spent five days with Jerry Jeff Walker and his wife Susan at
their home on Ambergris Caye off the coast of Belize. The
weather was perfect, I fished every morning, ate snapper every day
at noon, read a couple books, and took a jillion pictures, although
ost of them look just like the ones I took last year at this time!
Jerry Jeff hosts "Camp Belize" every year for two weeks and fans
come from all over the world to attend. Most said they'd seen
my video "Down in Belize" that I gave Jerry Jeff for his birthday
last year. They're using it at
jerryjeff.com to help spread
the word about Camp Belize. Watch it
here if you
haven't seen it yet.
San Pedro
is a special little village, and the people are the friendliest
you'll ever meet.
There was a South Dakota couple at the show that were
both wearing Red Willow
Band t-shirts from a reunion show in 1993...I signed one of the
shirts and it is hanging proudly from the thatched roof of Wet
Willie's bar in San Pedro.
Now, it's back to work for me.
