Albert and Gage e-Newsletter July 2009
Here we come, South Dakota - "west river to east river", we're headed your
way!
Greetings to all - far and wide, we have our hands full as
usual, managing the release of our
new CD and driving around sharing these great songs with some wonderful
audiences. Many thanks to the folks in California, Oklahoma and
northeast Texas in the last couple of weeks - we had some amazing nights
with you all.

very sweet note from Tom Peterson (writer of all the songs on "Dakota
Lullaby"), and see a couple of photos of the mystery man.

that plays independent Folk/Americana music - we'll tell you if they have it
and send it to them if they don't. You can order it at
www.moonhouserecords.com
and you can now purchase digital downloads of many of our CDs there as
well. Of course, they are also available at cdbaby, iTunes, Amazon,
and many other sites around the web.

| A note
from Christine:
First of all, my mom is doing much better and she and my dad are
back to "normal" there in Florida. As normal as anyone in my
family has ever been! Thank you to everyone who has expressed
concern for them the last couple of months. They are treasures
and I am grateful for the time I spent with them recently.
As Chris mentioned, we are fresh from a visit with his
dad and wonderful step mom, and this month we'll get to spend time
with his mother in Pierre, South Dakota. Our music keeps us in
all their neighborhoods and that is truly one of the gifts of the
road.
We will be taking David Carroll (our long and lanky
bass player) with us to South Dakota - his maiden voyage of that
great state. I don't know if we'll have time for Mt. Rushmore,
but we are playing in the Black Hills, Pierre in the middle of the
state and "east river" in Watertown, Canton and Sioux Falls.
So he'll get a good dose, for sure.
This month our garden challenge was that our fairly
young pear tree decided to explode with fruit - so much that its
boughs were bending and breaking with the weight. We've been
getting some advice from our gardening guru, Wayne Kamin with
Troubadour Landscape, about how to handle this crisis!
Perhaps there is a lesson here. When life ramps up
unexpectedly and you feel burdened by the surprise fruits of your
labor, keep nurturing yourself (with water and support) and perhaps
pluck some projects, set them aside, and wait for them to
ripen. That's what Wayne suggested we do with our pears and
our tree. Sounds like good advice to me.
Love, Christine |

And
a blurb from Chris:
Wow, 105 degrees in the shade in Austin, Texas. After awhile
you get used to it, and almost welcome the blast of heat that hits
you when you exit an air conditioned building. Almost.
Then there's the agonizing 5 minutes as you wait for the air to kick
in in the car. By the time you get to where you're going
you've sweated, cooled, sweated, cooled...you get the picture.
It's not a pretty sight on a portly guitar slinger in a t-shirt and
flip flops!
Had a great visit with my Dad and Bonus-Mom in Las
Vegas a couple weeks ago. Their home is very welcoming, we
weren't at all drawn to the strip or the shows; we stayed home,
cooked together, enjoyed a civilized cocktail hour, watched Judge
Judy and turned in early. It was the first relaxing I'd done
in a long time. We were touring in California, and we try to
schedule a time during the week to drive up and see them. This
time we were in San Diego, so it's an easy dash up the 15 to Vegas.
On the way back to Anaheim we did manage to make a pit
stop at the last casino on the Nevada border (Whiskey
Pete's) for a little Keno and penny slots. Sad note...you
can't drop coins in the slot machines any more. Only bills or
credit cards, and the payout makes a cheesy sound that tries to
emulate the exciting sound of winnings hitting the metal tray...but
fails. What happened to buckets of quarters and dirty hands?
Oh, for the good old days.
See you at the gig!
