July 2011
Greetings from the MoonHouse in lovely south
Austin, Texas
Red
Willow Band reunites in Sturgis and Pierre, South
Dakota.
Get your dancing shoes shined up, friends!
We are looking forward
to our journey to South Dakota. Chris will
play with
Red Willow Band and we'll do several Albert and
Gage shows in SD, the Chicago area and Fayetteville,
AR. Lots of details on the shows in Pierre,
Dell Rapids and Watertown, South Dakota
below...can't wait to hang in our home away from
home with old friends.
Albert
and Gage are
honored to be invited to perform on
Folkstage on
WMFT in Chicago and The
Woodstock Folk Festival in Woodstock, IL.
(Interesting fact - the gazebo stage in the
Woodstock town square where we'll be performing was
featured over and over and over in the movie Ground
Hog Day, one of our favorites.)
Good Folk
Concerts in Fayetteville, AR is worth the drive
just to sit on Mike's porch after the gig, not to
mention the awesome audience. Not too long
after we get home Chris turns around and heads up to
Montana and Oregon with Jerry Jeff, which he
actually does again a week later in early August.
At least with JJ he doesn't have to drive.
Speaking of Jerry Jeff Walker - mark your calendars
now for a Swan
Songs fundraiser featuring Jerry Jeff at The
Gibson Showroom in Austin, Texas on Wednesday,
October 19th. This is a rare opportunity
to hear Jerry Jeff in an intimate venue and to
support Christine's non-profit that fulfills musical
last wishes in central Texas. More information
will be coming but save the date now!
Last
month we were waiting on the arrival of Brody Tyler
Gage, grandson extraordinaire. We are proud to
announce that he finally made his grand entrance on
June 10, 2011 at 8 pm. Grandpa Chris is
already making his photography magic with hundreds
of pictures, although it isn't too hard to capture
his beautiful spirit. Birth is always
energizing and life affirming...we all need that
perspective!
Drum roll
please....presenting Brody Gage:

MoonHouse Records
No new
releases, nothing to report, except that our mobile
record store will be with us all month on tour.
Special prices on Red Willow Band CDs, older Albert and
Gage releases and Christine Albert gems. Come to
the shows and stock up for Christmas! |
 |
MoonHouse Studio
Chris is busy
recording Beatles songs for a wonderful new website that
provides interactive apps for kids of all ages called
Storychimes. Remember reading along in a book at
school, then you hear the 'ding' and you turn the page?
Well, there's an app for that. Check out their
website.
We'll have the studio door closed while we're on tour,
but will crank up the volume immediately upon return to
make our deadline.

I think this is a strange but fascinating photo of Guy. No cropping - shot

A note
from Christine:
The first of the month always seems to come around
again so quickly. And life throws curve balls at us on what
appears to be a monthly basis.
Last month it was spending time with Chris's mom in the
hospital. This month we did the hospital hang when Brody was
born, and then I ended up with an unexpected surgery for girlie
stuff you really don't want to know about. Between that and a
trip to LA to get plugged in to my new role as Madame Vice Chair for
The Recording Academy it was hard to find newsletter creation time.
Thus, the tardiness again!
I learned something about myself this month. It
is quite easy for me to get addicted to a television series now that
we have Netflix, especially when I need to stay horizontal and am on
pain medication. I became obsessed with
"24" for
awhile there because the cliffhangers just keep coming and it's so
easy to press "play next episode." But, I also learned that I
have a very low tolerance for gun shooting, kidnapping, torture,
dishonesty and betrayal. I also get scared easily and so does
my cat if the soundtrack is ominous. I kept waiting for the
back story (relationships, happy times, bonding over coffee) to
balance the end of the planet type issues, but it just didn't happen
and my adrenals can't handle the stress. So, it's back to
"Cheers",
"Brothers and Sisters", reading a book or silence.
We'll see what next month brings.
Love, Christine |

And
a blurb from Chris:
Trying to finish up a hundred last
minute tasks so I can get in the truck and push it north for 24
hours, destination Sturgis, South Dakota and a
Red Willow Band
reunion. I'm honored and amazed that people still want to see
us do our thing after 35 years. It's the same 5 guys who
crawled into vans, trucks, busses and airplanes to take our music
across America from 1974 to 1982, a lot of the same songs, and even
a few of the same old jokes! I can't wait.
Yep, I'm a Grandpa. Proud of it. The little
guy is already getting strong enough to wrestle his way out of my
arms, but I can handle him. I'm so proud of Casey and Ali for
bringing Brody around. Both my parents are still on the planet
and will get a chance to be in the 4 generation photo. (I've
got one with my son Sam in his great grandmother's lap with my mom
and me).
Happy birthday to this great country of ours, the
United States of America. Austin will celebrate without
fireworks, thanks to the record drought we've been experiencing for
months on end. We caught a little rain the other day, but the
sun kept shining through it and it almost dried on impact! My
little
habanero peppers are about the only things hanging on in the
garden, they love the heat!
I keep seeing evidence of psychic unrest these days in the
world of friendships. If you're not speaking to a good friend
for some reason...try to look for the heart of the matter, drop them
a line, give em a call. Can't we all get along? I'll do
my part.
See you at the gig.

the roster. |
A reminder that
Christine Albert's French Show has been approved
for inclusion on the new
Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) Texas Touring Roster

available for fundraising events), etc that would like to host Ms.
Albert's French Show, please keep this in mind.
The next deadline for
