Albert and Gage e-Newsletter June 2010
please visit our website albertandgage.com
Greetings from the MoonHouse in lovely south
Austin, Texas,
Our biggest accomplishment this month (besides a
major personal project and lots of studio work) was the digital release of our
song, "Wings of War". Written by Chris, Christine and Steve Brooks,
the song tells the story of visiting Christine's uncle's grave at The American
Military Cemetery in Cambridge, England. Chris created a lovely
video, featuring some
items Christine discovered while helping her parents move. She would scan
and email them to him and the timing was perfect as they helped personalize the
video in a powerful way. We appreciate all of the comments we have
received. It seems the telling of one family's story struck a nerve in
many who have experienced a loss or sacrifice of their own. Thank you for
sharing your stories with us.

Note:
The links to download "Wings of War" in the
last email did not allow saving (thanks,
Jeff). The song, video and more about
Wings of War can be found at

A note
from Christine:
Chris failed to mention in his letter that he also
created the video of "Wings of War" while I was gone. The guy
is a force of nature.
My parents are happily settled in with my older sister
Susan and her husband Carl. I can't say it was an easy task to
move two households in at the same time, but in an attempt to work
around all of our schedules it had to happen that way. It
turns out a team of sisters can move mountains, or at least a
lifetime of antiques, photos, quilting supplies, artwork and Revere
Ware!
While looking through a box of items related to our
Uncle Dick, we found a telegram to my grandparents announcing the
birth of a baby boy in December 1945, whose middle name was Richard.
My dad told me that was the son of my uncle's best friend in flight
school and during the war. Through the magic of the internet
we found not only the baby (now 64 and living in Ohio) but his
father, who is still alive and lives in Pennsylvania. I called
and told him about "Wings of War", the memorial to my uncle we have
discovered in Wangford, UK,
and I will read a beautiful poem I found that he had written
in honor of Dick when we play in Wangford on October 9th.
A song truly does have a life of its own.
Love to all, Christine |

And
a blurb from Chris:
I've been holding down the fort while
Christine has been helping her parents get settled in a new home
with her sister in Florida.
It's a totally different routine when you're home alone
I've discovered. The unnerving thing is that if you leave in
the morning and work all day, upon entering the house you find that
it's exactly as you left it, and for me that's not necessarily a
good thing. I miss the woman's touch that's for sure.
(Around the house I mean...well...).
I did manage to keep all the plants alive, the cat
happy and the checking accounts above zero. I even managed to run
the dishwasher several times and get the laundry started (just in
time for her to come home and finish it correctly).
We discovered streaming
Netflix through a Wii console
(thanks, S and D), and I got hooked on late night re-runs of News
Radio, Arrested Development and Lost (which I'd never seen). I think
the cat wonders why the tv gets louder when Momma's out of town...
Anyway, she's home, we both survived and we're trying to get back
to our usual crazy routine. And, hey, at least we have each
other. Enjoy your partner, if you've got one, and just turn up
the tv if you don't.
See you at the gig.
