News from the musical world of Christine Albert and Chris Gage

Coming to
Fredericksburg this week
Austin Acoustical Cafe (May 12) and The Great Outdoors on Mother's Day
Hey and howdy, friends and neighbors,
salutations from the MoonHouse in beautiful Austin, Texas,
We have a busy month ahead, with several Albert and
Gage shows, two trips to LA
for Christine, and Chris' busy studio schedule mixed in with Jerry Jeff Walker
gigs.
Our 9th anniversary will be spent 1,000 miles apart so we'll do our toasting a
week early - the only day off together we can find.
We have a rare
listening room appearance in Austin on May 12th at
Austin Acoustical Cafe and
we'll play Mother's Day at The Great
Outdoors again on May 13th. We got married Mother's Day weekend 2003, so
those gigs will be a celebration of sorts.
The plans for "Albert and
Gage's Alpine Adventure Tour" are shaping up! Fans are invited
to join us for the Swiss portion of our October European tour. This ten
day trip (October 13-23 - including the travel days to and from Zurich), will
feature plenty of Albert and Gage shows throughout Switzerland, sightseeing with
an emphasis on a non-touristy experience, hanging out with locals, eating great
food, touring a winery, visiting a watchmaking museum, etc. We need commitments
by May 18 in order to confirm that the trip has enough folks to go on.
Deposits will not be due until it's all set.
Details can be found here.
In honor of our wedding anniversary, the photo essay is titled "The Early Years". Ha! We've
been playing music together since 1995, we hope you enjoy these old photos.
Our song, "I Used to Be Lonesome" is featured in
this "Austin Pets Alive" video. Glory needs a home! Very sweet.
Thank you to Stu Phillips, who creates these videos for APL.
Watch it
here.
As always, thanks for the support and happy spring
to you,
Chris and Christine

A note
from Christine:
Good morning. It's 5:30 AM and I can't sleep so
rather than toss and turn, fretting about the newsletter that needs
to get out, I thought I'd just get up and write my letter!
Chris has been waiting on me to write this for two days so here I
go.
A month seems to just fly by. But then, a year
does too - and a decade - and three decades - and a lifetime.
A friend was referring to 1992 in a conversation recently and I said
"wow, that was already ten years ago." Then I realized it was
actually twenty years ago! I think that the only chance we
have of slowing time down is to be more present for each moment
instead of always rushing towards some mythical and elusive
destination. But that's easier said than done. I'll
start here and now by noticing the piles on a cluttered desk, the
tickle of the early morning air stirred by a small fan, the barking
of the neighbor's restless dog, a slight headache reminding me that
I need sleep, the half finished lyrics to some new songs that are my
constant companion as I write and rewrite in my head. This is
not a huge, profound moment, but it's one that I will never get back
so I'd better pay attention to it in all its petty, typical, mundane
glory.
And now, I will be completely present as I say - good
night.
Love, Christine |

And
a blurb from Chris:
It's a great time of year in Texas.
Visit quick if you're planning to come, because it's fixin' to get
hot! Right now the tomatoes are starting to turn red, the pear
tree is starting to need a bit of fruit trimmed off before the
branches break (not gonna let it happen this year), the beets and
turnips are literally popping out of the ground and the chard is
reaching for the sky. I've made it part of my evening wind
down routine to stand out there and water by hand. It's a good
thing for the garden and for me.
Lots of great music being made in and around my world,
and lots of good things going on...Christine and I are writing some
new material, I'm in the middle of several studio projects for
singer/songwriters, I've got a couple trips coming up with Jerry
Jeff Walker, including Atlanta, Minneapolis and Vail, Donn's Depot
got blessed with new red carpet so everyone's happy there, I've
discovered the Food Saver system so my freezer is full of leftovers
(sometimes I just cook to make leftovers), my family all seem well
enough, little Brody is growing like a weed, my kids still like
me...hey, I'm not going to complain today. I was even recently
the voice of a singing cupcake for a greeting card. You just
never know.
See you at the gig.
