The TCA provides grants to arts presenters, schools,
libraries, theaters and other non-profits throughout
Texas to help with the cost of bringing in artists from
the roster. |
A reminder that
Christine Albert's French Show has been approved
for inclusion on the new
Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) Texas Touring Roster
for the Sept 2010 - August 2012 season. So, if you know of a
school, non-profit arts organization (grants are not
available for fundraising events), etc that would like to host Ms.
Albert's French Show, please keep this in mind. The deadline for
Arts Respond Performance Support Grants performances
occurring December 15, 2010 - March 14, 2011 is November
1, 2011. (Insider tip - you can also apply for funding
for an A&G show through Christine's account, since
Christine is the Albert in Albert and Gage!)
Christine and Professor Jacki Thomas of Texas A&M -
Kingsville are developing listening comprehension
exercises as a companion to the Texafrance music -
perfect for the classroom or for individuals learning
French on their own. More soon about "Texafrance -
Ecoutez!"

blog - "As Grows the Garden"

something for no other reason than to satisfy a creative
longing to write and to dig in the dirt.
She actually blogged yesterday!!!! |

A note
from Christine:
One more day to get ready for our trip overseas.
People always start asking me ten days out "are you all packed?"
It's in my nature to be ahead of the game, but the number of balls
in the air these days prevents me from being that efficient.
I'm still wrapping up the "Swan Songs Song Circle"
event, which was a great success. The evening was
inspirational and enlightening for everyone there. The
artists' stories about their Swan Songs experiences were as
beautiful as the music they played. Thank you to everyone who
attended and contributed.
That week Jim Swift created a very moving piece about
Swan Songs for KXAN News in Austin. Please take the time to
follow the link at the top of the page...you won't regret it.
The exposure generated increased support and activity for Swan
Songs, which is a great thing.
This coming Saturday Chris, my sister Susan and I will
take part in the dedication of a memorial to my uncle, 2nd Lt.
Richard A. Albert, and 2nd Lt. Roger A Phillips in Wangford,
England. They died in this village when their planes collided
in 1944. This is a momentous thing for our family.
Love to all,
Christine |

And
a blurb from Chris:
I spent the weekend in San Francisco
with Jerry Jeff at a cool festival called the "Hardly Strictly
Bluegrass Festival". It's a free festival sponsored by music
lover Warren Hellman who has donated 10 years of free music to the
city. A blast from the past, for sure...was the haze over the
park real fog or herbal in nature? Hard to tell, but it
smelled quite pungent. Musical highlight....a large band
featuring Michael McDonald, Donald Fagan and Boz Scaggs. It
was like having the Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan on the same
stage. Incredible.
I jumped on the cable car (had to, I woke up each
morning hearing the gripman ring the bell) one morning and made the
trip over Nob Hill past Chinatown and down to Fisherman's Wharf.
How pleasant to sit by the water and call some old friends.
Being the foodie I am I had to indulge in a sourdough bread bowl
full of clam chowder, and there's a huge round loaf of bread sitting
in our kitchen waiting to be crisped up.
We're off to Europe tomorrow...doing a year's worth of
touring in October this year. Thanks to the piano players who
will keep my bench warm at Donn's Depot while I'm off enjoying
bratwurst and rösti.
Ciao.
See you at the gig.
