News from the musical world of Christine Albert and Chris Gage
October 2012

Hey and howdy, friends and neighbors, salutations from the MoonHouse in beautiful Austin, Texas,

Our main focus this month will be finding our way across Germany and Switzerland - playing shows and reconnecting with old friends we have met through our many musical journeys there these past couple of decades.  We are also very excited to be welcoming 12 American fans and friends for the maiden voyage of "The Albert and Gage Alpine Adventure".  We will visit museums, ride ferries, tour watch factories, eat cheese, play private and public shows and embrace the altitude and brisk autumn air, fortified by wine and good beer.

As we prepare to head out we are busy pulling together some exciting new projects that await us upon our return.

We'll have plenty of pictures to post next month.  Meanwhile, enjoy Chris' images from this past weekend in San Francisco.

"Mystery Monday at El Mercado"
with Christine and Sarah Elizabeth

Every Monday beginning November 5
7:30-9:30
El Mercado
1302 S. 1st St
Austin, TX 78704

No cover - there will be a cute tip jar...

We are pleased  to announce that Christine Albert and Sarah Elizabeth Campbell are teaming up to create a new Monday early evening tradition.  El Mercado on South 1st Street in South Austin, Texas will host "Mystery Monday' every week from 7:30-9:30 PM.

Christine Elisabeth Albert  and Sarah Elizabeth Campbell will be joined by David Carroll on upright bass and a special, surprise guest instrumentalist each week for a  spontaneous, every changing, musical menu.  These two exceptional vocalists will interpret songs from Uncle Walt's Band, Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, Karla Bonoff, Iris Dement, Eliza Gilkyson, Edith Piaf, The Everly Brothers and more - in addition to fresh takes on longtime favorite originals.

Sarah has had a long running Monday night gig in Austin.  Sometimes called "Bummer Night", she has been in residency at such venues as La Zona Rosa, Artz Ribhouse and JAX Neighborhood Cafe.

El Mercado has a newly revamped menu, is expanding their stage and remodeling their space to create a truly unique and great sounding music room.  With a full bar, an outdoor patio with access to the music, plenty of space and a warm welcome from Tony, Nate and the entire El Mercado crew, this promises to continue the tradition nurtured by Artz Ribhouse for so many years.  Start your Monday at El Mercado with Christine and Sarah Elizabeth and continue on to Donn's to see Chris Gage. The kick off is Monday, November 5th and the featured guests will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.

MoonHouse Records  Visit the MoonHouse Records website for the latest CDs by Albert and Gage, Christine Albert (including the entire "Texafrance" series), Red Willow Band CDs and DVDs,  Michael Austin, Abi Tapia and some old dusty gems.  Hey there's even t-shirts.
MoonHouse Studio News  We just finished classy demos for opera singer Benjamin Watts, final mixes for Sarah Smith, are working on an EP by Carrington McDuffie, a new jingle for ABC Home and Commercial Services, some classy re-records of material from the Paramount Pictures music catalog, some Chan Chandler musical archiving, and Jerry Jeff came in to lay down a couple new songs he's writing.  Albert and Gage are working on new material, but no recording has been done....yet.
Swan Songs fulfills musical wishes at the end of life by organizing private concerts for individuals with a terminal illness. At their request, a favorite style of music or musician is brought directly to the home or facility. The concert allows patient, family and friends to focus beyond the illness and come together through the medium of music.

Save the date for "An Evening With Eliza"  benefiting Swan Songs on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at The Gibson Showroom in Austin, Texas.  Eliza Gilkyson has fulfilled two very special musical last wishes via Swan Songs and we are grateful for her support and generosity.  Details are coming together and are posted at www.swansongs.org/events.

A note from Christine:

I had lived so long in shadows
Of the perfect castle wall
In the arms of its protection
Never questioning at all
But the leaves started falling
From that old illusion tree
I could see the rooms were empty
And that it was time for me...to

Let the castle fall,
Walk across that bridge
The first step wasn't easy,
But then it never is
I could see a new horizon
And the writing on the wall
And I could tell that it was time
To let the castle fall

I would get so tired and lonely
That my heart and bones would ache
Just looking for a sign to tell me
Which road I should take
With only faith to guide me
Through the changes time would bring
I began to understand
The most important thing was to

I have built myself a new home
Closer to the ground
The strength to lay the stone came from
The courage that I found to

Let the castle fall,
Walk across that bridge
The first step wasn't easy,
But then it never is
I could see a new horizon
And the writing on the wall
And I could tell that it was time
To let the castle fall

Somehow you know when it's time
To let the castle fall

  And a blurb from Chris:

I can hear that rooster crowin'
And it's messin' with my snorin'
In the mornin' I don't want to get up
In the mornin' get some coffee in my cup
I can hear that rooster crowin'
Makes me mad

I can hear my neighbor's Harley
And his basset hound named Charley
In the mornin' I don't want to get up
In the mornin' get some coffee in my cup
I can hear my neighbor's Harley
Makes me mad

I was dreaming of the South of France
You were in a negligee
We were toasting with a fine champagne
On a balcony overlooking Saint Tropez

I can hear my wife a workin'
Ain't no duties that she's shirkin'
In the mornin' I don't want to get up
In the mornin' get some coffee in my cup
I can hear my wife a workin'
Makes me mad

Got a headache from the vino
I might need a cappuccino
In the mornin' I don't want to get up
In the mornin' get some coffee in my cup
Got a headache from the vino
Makes me mad

Maybe I should hit the snooze alarm
Sleep's the best thing for my head
Darlin' you could make my dream come true
If only you would get back into bed

I can smell the bacon fryin'
Can't believe that I've been whinin'
In the mornin' I don't want to get up
In the mornin' get some coffee in my cup
I can smell the bacon fryin' makes me glad

Yeah the mornin' sun a' shinin's not so bad
