Christine Albert has long been able to produce engaging, thoughtful music with a country edge. Since teaming with guitarist, vocalist and pianist Chris Gage, a man with a lovely voice and a deft musical hand, Albert's music has a bit more of a much-needed edge. The pair, backed by the monster talent of percussionist Paul Pearcy and bassist Dave Heath, are celebrating the release of the album "Jumpin' Tracks". It features a number of tunes written or co-written by Gage and Albert, plus the Butch Hancock tune that gave the group it's name and enough surprises - James Brown's "I'll Go Crazy", Eddie "Guitar Slim" Jones' "I Got Over It" - to keep the pigeonholers off balance. Albert and Gage love working together. It shines brightly in performances. - Jim Beal |
